Description

This is a full bottom to top overhaul of the PDW-27 with a lot of added features, skins, and included optional patches for popular mods. I also fixed several bugs and fully isolated the meshes, materials and textures so they no longer use the base game paths and uses its own. I also renamed all of the forms so they follow standard form naming conventions. I also converted to a medium master so that patches are easier for both myself and others to make.

Important

This is meant as a replacement for the original mod! It won't break anything to run both but none of the guns from the original mod will have my changes to it.

Ownership Rights Transfer

As of December 27, 2025 the original author Nispet has gracefully transferred ownership rights of the PDW-27 design and name to me. This gives me greater freedom for future updates and allows me to release an Achievement Friendly version. I am extremely thankful to Nispet for his generosity and I will continue to give the weapon the love it deserves!

Permission Note

  • The original mod Allied Armaments - PDW27 by Nispet had its permissions opened (screenshot to the right) for others to basically do anything except sell the content due to the author stepping away from modding. I wanted to add Ammo HUD support but realized that the PDW-27 needed some TLC so I decided to fork the mod entirely.

Features

Features

  • Rebalanced the damage values so its a bit more competitive
  • Added native custom weapon HUD icons
  • Leveled list injection via custom script (Vendors, Lootables, and Enemies) will be available at level 10
  • Added an ammo counter (modified the short scope model to not obstruct it)
  • There are now 7 receiver options:

    • Standard Receiver with Automatic, Semi-Automatic, and Burst fire mods
    • Long Reciever with Automatic, Semi-Automatic, and Burst fire mods (Boosted range and accuracy but slower ROF)
    • DMR Reciever with Semi-Automatic fire mode only (Much higher range and accuracy with boosted base damage and when aiming but locked to semi-auto)

    Semi-Auto fire modes have a slight boost to damage

  • New stock attachments:

    • Folding Stock: Lighter with boots to accuracy
    • Folding Stock (Folded): Slightly lighter and looks cool
  • New optical attachments:

    • Recon Scope: Boosts range, accuracy and will mark enemies. (Uses the Va'ruun Inflictor recon scope model)
    • Medium Scope: Moderately boosts range and accuracy. (Uses a modified Novablast short scope model)
  • New muzzle attachments:

    • Focus Nozzle: Increases Damage, Headshot Damage, and Range. Slight increase to crit chance. (uses model from the Novablast Focal Lens)
    • Stealth Laser: Reduces the visibility and acoustic intensity of lasers. (uses one of the Novastrike muzzle models)
  • Added internal mods:

    • Amplifier: Amplifies power output, increasing damage.
    • Overclocked: Increases Rate of Fire. 
    • Precision Tuning: Precisely tuned to increase Accuracy and Range.
  • Added Magazine mods (The standard magazine model was modified with an additional component for these):

    • Annihilator: Banned by almost every government, these rounds produce a disease-like effect that spreads to any target that gets too close. 
    • Ignition Beams: Lasers do more damage and now burn enemies. 
  • Added craftable laser color options, as well as display options: 

    • Display Options: Beam Only, Beam + Dot, Dot Only, and No Beam or Dot
    • Colors: Amber, Blue, Cyan, Green, Purple, Red, and Yellow
  • Added craftable rechamber ammo options

    • 1.5kV LZR Cartridge (Default)
    • 3kV LZR Cartridge: Boosts damage but lowers ROF
  • Added built-in extended quality tiers and balanced quality level unlocks:

    • Level 00  - T1 [Basic]  
    • Level 25  - T2 [Calibrated]  
    • Level 35  - T3 [Refined]  
    • Level 45  - T4 [Advanced]  
    • Level 60  - T5 [Superior]  
    • Level 80  - T6 [Elite]  
    • Level 105 - T7 [Apex]
  • New unity enhancement (NG+) mods which will unlock based on how many times your character has gone through unity and each level buffs all stats for the weapon which should make it viable for high level characters.

These mods have their own category on the weapons workbench and are not visible unless you have gone through unity at least once

  • Added 37 craftable skins (more info below)

    • Skins were also added to the Combat Knife
  • Added new crafting categories for more customization:

    • Reflex Sight Glass Crafting: Customize the glass on the reflex sights to be standard or clean/clear.
    • Reflex Sight Reticle Crafting: Customize the reticle on the reflex sights (There are 8 options to choose from)
    • HUD Reticle: Customize the HUD reticle used for the weapon
    • Sound FX: Customize which sound effect to use when firing the weapon (I chose sounds which complimented the laser nature of the weapon but kept the default sound the same so this is entirely optional)
    • Quality Upgrades: Craft quality upgrades as your level increases
  • Game options added to customize what you want to enable or disable for the new crafting features (More info below)

  • Added a custom skinned dataslate for mod information and the change log (Information is given and change log is craftable)
  • There is a unique legendary DMR variant with a 5% spawn chance normally and was added to Stache's 3-Star Astra exchange list

  • Fixed quality levels not being applied correctly

    • Previously the mod used Kodama quality levels instead of its own, it now has its own quality levels
    • This also meant I had to balance the base weapon damage as before it was set really high so the scale kind of made sense but that meant that it didn't scale correctly and the gun became underpowered quickly at higher levels
  • Fixed some mesh alignment issues with some of the stocks and muzzle attachments

  • Isolated all the meshes/geometries/materials/textures into their own custom named files (in their own PDW27 folder) so that not only skins can be made for it but also changes to base game weapon textures/materials won't affect the PDW-27 going forward. It also makes every part of the mod fully standalone so no other mods will conflict
  • The entire mod now has an organized file tree with renamed files so it is cohesive
  • Optimized every mesh file and cleaned up any unused nodes/strings
  • Added missing weapons workbench icon
  • Changed the Reflex Sight names to differentiate between all 3 available reflex sights
  • Normalized all form names and structures to align with best practices
  • Removed unused forms and cleaned up orphaned entries

  • Laser Attachment Options (Used when crafting laser attachments, color options are always shown per type)

    • All (Default): Show all options for every laser attachment
    • Beam Only: This will only show the laser attachments which are a standard beam only
    • Beam + Dot: This will only show the laser attachments which have both the standard beam and the dot
    • Dot Only: This will only show the laser attachments which are only the dot (no beam)
  • Reflex Sight Crafting: Glass

    • Enabled (Default): Enables the ability to craft clean/clear glass options for all three reflex sight attachments
    • Disabled: Disables Reflex Sight Glass crafting if you do not want to use it
  • Reflex Sight Crafting: Reticle

    • Enabled (Default): Enables the ability to customize the reticle for all three reflex sight attachments
    • Disabled: Disables Reflex Sight Reticle crafting if you do not want to use it
  • HUD Reticle Crafting

    • Enabled (Default): Enables the ability to customize the HUD reticle used for the PDW-27 you are customizing
    • Disabled: Disables HUD reticle crafting if you do not want to use it
  • Sound FX Crafting

    • Enabled (Default): Enables the ability to customize the firing sound effect used for the PDW-27 you are customizing
    • Disabled: Disables sound effect crafting if you do not want to use it
  • Quality Crafting

    • Enabled (Default): Enables built-in level gated quality crafting
    • Disabled: Disables the built-in quality crafting if you do not want to use it
  • Unity Enhancement (NG+) Crafting

    • Enabled (Default): Enables crafting the NG+ modifications (Requires going through the unity at least once)
    • Disabled: Disables NG+ quality crafting if you do not want to use it

In order to keep save file integrity all changes for v2.0.0+ are made on new forms in the mod, meaning the V1 of the weapon will still exist but has been renamed to PDW-27L (Legacy) but they will no longer spawn in the world. You can exchange any PDW-27L you have for a brand new V2 PDW-27 at the industrial workbench. The installed attachments from the V1 will not carry over to the V2 as the recipe consumes the V1 and gives you a new V2 which will be random.

This crafting recipe will only be available if you had v1.0.0 of the mod previously installed in the save

Optional Patches

These are provided in the FOMOD installer as optional additions

  • Ammo HUD Support for custom weapon and ammo icons with or without ammo labels
  • Bullet Follows Dot: This is just a small patch to make it so the projectile follows the laser attachment dot instead of the HUD reticle. This is just like the Laser Sight Dot Enabled mod feature but since I already provided laser options, this patch just enables this one feature. This is also fully compatible with the other mod.

The entire weapon and all of its attachments are fully supported by each skin, no model was left out. The UC and Crimson Fleet skins are applied to NPCs who are apart of the corresponding faction if they spawn with a PDW-27 (There may be some NPCs which might end up with the wrong skin depending on the factions that NPC was spawned with). Skins are now also applied to the Combat Knife both via the weapon workbench but also will spawn with them in the wild.

  • Localization: There is a workflow now for this in the CK but I didn't want to delay release longer for it, I will come back to it at some point later and add localization.
    • Theres some typos that also need to be fixed
  • Theres always new skin ideas but for now I think this is feature complete minus localization
