Using: Canva Affinity

Getting started
You will need to have Canva Affinity installed to follow this tutorial.
I am not going to go through how to get a new file created and how to open your Silhouette in the tool, if you don't know how to do that, you can find tutorials online to help you with it.
This tutorial will only show the Preview Window silhouette but the process is exactly the same for the Transform Window silhouette.
Import Your Silhouette
Add your silhouette onto the artboard.

Trace Your Silhouette
Select your image, then go to Vector > Image Trace...

These settings seems to get the best output for a SVG, feel free to play with them as you like, once it looks how you want click on Apply in the Image Trace dialog.

Ungroup All Curves
Select your traced shape group, then go to Layer > Ungroup All.

Remove the Background Curve
Select the layer that contains the background curve (usually the last layer), on the bottom right click the Delete trashcan icon.

Subtract curves to create final shape
Once you have deleted any background curves, now we need to Subtract curves from the main body to create the final shape. Do this by selecting all the curve layers and going to Vector > Geometry > Subtract.

Recolor for Export
Now that you have a final shape (which should have cutouts in the shape of your weapon), recolor it to White by clicking on the White color box on the top right.

Export Icon to SVG
Keep your shape selected then go to File > Export > Export....

On the left side find SVG (for export), then on the right side set the Area value to Selection Only and click Export...

Enter your file name and click Save.
